Message from the International President

Cheryl W. Turner

Dear University Official:

Greetings from the administration of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. We have been advised that fraternities and sororities are undoubtably among the highest inquired about groups on campus. We are also aware that the issue of hazing and inappropriate activities during membership activities has been a blemish on fraternity and sorority life for decades. Delta Sigma Theta is committed to eliminating hazing. The governing documents of our Sorority contain absolute prohibitions against hazing related activities before, during, and after the Membership Intake Process and violators of these prohibitions are sanctioned in accordance with our Code of Conduct. We commend Greek affiliates for their community and philanthropic involvement. We join you in congratulating the outstanding Greek chapters that are truly committed to community service and high scholastic achievement and offer encouragement to those who need some academic assistance.

We recognize the importance of our relationship with your institution. Our joint support is critical to our students and chapters. We, like you, monitor our chapters, their status, advise them through our regional officers and advisors, provide resources to aid them in their campus programming efforts, seek to provide opportunities that will supplement their academic experience and assist them in other ways that we deem necessary from a national focus. We welcome any informative and interesting information from you and your staff on Greek activities. It enables us to keep abreast of the trends, emphasis and programs occurring on campus. Delta wants you to know that we share a mutual interest with your institution in the provision of education for all students, unhampered by the distractions and concerns associated with the Membership Intake Program.

We welcome collaboration and information sharing to better support your campus community and ensure a positive Greek experience.

Sincerely,
Cheryl W. Turner
International President & Chair, Board of Directors
